The Overall President and caretaker Chairman of the handball federation of Nigeria Mr. Samuel Ocheo declared that the dissolution of the sports federation by the minister of youth and sport has not affected the handball team yet.

He States that the confederation of Africa handball leached out to him to find out if the board was affected.

According to Ocheo, he said that he doesn’t expect any problem to rise and that he believes the impromptu arrangements will also serve the purpose of change leading towards the conduct of the election in various sports federations. 

The minister of sports development, Sunday Dare, who declared the dissolution of boards of about 31 national sports federations in the country on Friday in Abuja Stated that the dissolution was in keeping with the Olympic charter which requires a four-year tenure for all sports federations boards.

In Dare’s words “Having run a full Olympic Cycle, the boards of the NSF inaugurated on June 21, 2017, are hereby dissolved to pare way for fresh election”

The minister consequently set up caretaker committees for the 31 federations until elections were conducted and new boards were inaugurated.

Based on the information given by the News Agency on Nigeria (NAN), they stated that the committees are now saddled with the responsibility of ensuring a good outing for team Nigeria at the Tokyo Olympic game slated for July 2021.
